Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 8 month secondment as an Access Manager for Gynaecology & Obstetrics at NUH. Working with a vision of "delivering excellence in all we do" the post holder will work alongside the Associate Specialty General Manager for Gynaecology in conjunction with the Family Health Divisional Team, to manage the service and support achievement of the Business Unit's and Trust's restoration and strategic plans. This role will be predominantly gynaecology focused but will also provide support to Obstetrics and the Fertility service.The post holder will lead on operational management of Gynae-oncology operating at the City and Benign gynaecology operating at the QMC, including managing the waiting list coordinator team and MDT coordinators within the service. They will also lead on monitoring and validation of performance against national and local targets and patient pathways throughout the service and both identify and drive service improvements within the division. The post holder will deputise for the Associate Specialty General Manager as appropriate.The majority of benign gynaecology clinical activity currently takes place at the Treatment Centre (TC), therefore this role will work closely alongside the service manager for gateway F at the TC (outpatient activity) and the service manager for TC theatre activity.

This role includes the opportunity to work closely on projects to improve and transform the service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with proven experience of managing a team. They will have the ability to deal with sensitive situations and conflict in a diplomatic and tactful manner and will have experience of recruitment and sickness absence management, along with the ability to coordinate and motivate staff to ensure a consistent standard is delivered.

  • A level Qualification preferably in Maths and English.
  • NVQ 3 in Management or equivalent experience.

  • Leadership Training Certificate or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS and NUH
  • Previous experience of using Medway PAS, Bluespier, Notis, Datix and other NUH reporting systems
  • Experience within the Healthcare sector at a management level including: change management, multidisciplinary working, financial management, human resource management,performance
  • Experience in monitoring and validating patient pathways- in particular 18 week RTT and Cancer 2WW/31 day/62 day targets

Desirable

  • Experience of project management and use of project management techniques i.e. process
  • Experience in managing elective waiting lists and processes involved from listing patient for surger
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel to analyse and track data
