Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a full-time locum ENT Consultant with expertise in Oncological Head and Neck Surgery for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust for 12 months, with a view to conversion to a substantive post.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting new full time post attracting 10 programmed activities (PAs). The successful applicant will be based at NUH although he/she may periodically be asked to provide support to King's Mill Hospital. The service provides a comprehensive Head & Neck service to at least 2.5 million residents of Nottingham, Mansfield and Lincolnshire.
The Head and Neck oncological surgical service is currently provided by 3 oncological ENT Consultants and three Maxillofacial Consultants. In addition, we have at least 2 other ENT consultants who undertake office-based procedures like transnasal oesophagoscopy (TNO) and laryngopharyngeal biopsies in the outpatient setting.
The successful candidate will join a well established enthusiastic, friendly multidisciplinary and multiprofessional team. For major head neck resections +/- reconstruction, ENT consultants often double up. For those with significant experience and interest, there is an opportunity to develop the Trans-oral Robotic Surgery (TORS), transoral laser resection and participate in microvascular flap reconstruction.
The post holder will work closely with colleagues from all related disciplines such as Maxillofacial team, Head & Neck Oncology, Speech & Language Therapy. Development of a research and academic program will be encouraged.
