Specialist Dietitian - Head and Neck Cancer

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a dietitian to enhance their skills and knowledge in Head and Neck & Upper GI Cancer as part of our team at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. This is a temporary position for 6 months due to a career break. The position is a full time band 6 position (0.5WTE Head and Neck, 0.5 WTE Head and Neck & Upper GI HEF) but part time applications will be considered.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dietitian to join our team of Head and Neck & Upper GI cancer dietitians at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH). The successful candidate will manage a caseload of patients with a head and neck cancer diagnosis, across the in and out-patient setting, providing nutritional care throughout the treatment pathway. They will also manage a caseload of Head and Neck & Upper GI oncology home enteral feeding patients. The dietitian is a core member of the multi-disciplinary team and will work collaboratively with consultants, speech therapists, radiographers and specialist nurses to deliver high quality nutritional care to patients. You will be supported by our band 7 clinical leads in Head and Neck & Upper GI, whilst receiving support from the wider dietetic team, working closely with other members of the MDT. The position will also involve contribution to training, education and dietetic audit. Knowledge of Head and Neck cancer / Upper GI cancer is desirable, but not essential as training will be given. You will need to have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload within a supportive team. We would expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated & adaptable. The position is based at City Campus but will involve cover of out-patient clinics at Queens Medical Centre and possibly Kings Mill.

The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff, who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
