An Exciting opportunity has arisen to join the leadership team of SDEC ( same day emergency care ) at the city hospital campus . We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, compassionate and highly motivated Deputy Ward Sister/ Deputy Charge Nurse to join our excellent team.Every day is different but very rewarding. As a caring and positive person you will be committed to delivering high quality patient care.SDEC is under Cancer Associated Specialities (CAS) based at City Campus. SDEC is a unit that is currently specialises in the care of oncology patients in a day care/ outpatient setting.The unit also provides a nurse-led service for Renal and Haematology patients. Oncology patients can be assessed, diagnosed and be treated without being admitted to a ward and if clinically safe to do so, will go home the same day when their care is provided to avoid admission to Specialist Receiving unit (SRU). Nurse-led service for Renal patients involves administration of infusions. The units also provides blood transfusion for Haematology patients. The unit currently opens from 08:00 hrs - 18:00hrs, Monday to Friday for Oncology patients and Saturday and Sunday for nurse-led service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as Deputy to the unit Manager they will be required to:Act as the deputy to the ward manager, completing managerial roles such as, return to work discussions, sickness monitoring, rota completion.Be an effective leader and role model.Will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care, administration of medicationsSupport the implementation of both clinical and non clinical governance.Work flexibly as a member of the team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and, in collaboration with the ward manager identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken.
