Specialist Planning Radiographer/Dosimetrist (B7)

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Therapeutic Radiographer or Dosimetrist to join our treatment planning team here at Nottingham.

The role will include undertaking all aspects of treatment planning including OAR contouring, Image Fusion, a full range of simple and complex planning techniques including IMRT, SABR across multiple sites and Linac delivered SRS, production of patient specific QA and planning for patients within national trials and associated data collection.

**Working from home would be considered for this post for the right candidate**

Main duties of the job

  1. Have expert knowledge on all aspects of the pre-treatment planning pathways in the department and to provide support and expert advice on planning techniques.
  2. Act clinically as a specialist treatment planner, including OAR contouring, image fusion, delivering a full range of planning solutions including simple planning, IMRT, SABR and SRS, production of patient specific QA plans and planning for patients within national trials.
  3. Maintain knowledge of all current Radiotherapy studies and trials being carried out within the department and the planning Radiographer/Dosimetrists role within them.
  4. Co-ordinate the clinical workload of the within treatment planning, prioritising as required. Working with wider MDT to facilitate completion of treatment plans.
  5. Lead on development and introduction of new planning techniques. Ensuring local change management processes are adhered to while working with a technical MDT.
  6. Interpret and explain technical information for other staff members / students as required.
  7. Appropriate delegation of duties to staff within the pre-treatment/planning team.
  8. Analyse the feasibility of the treatment prescription and be available to discuss treatment problems with the relevant parties
  9. In association with the Principal Radiographers regulate the daily activity and highlighting where national cancer targets cannot be met.
  10. Develop and maintain skills in the use of all planning equipment and techniques.

The Radiotherapy Department provides complex treatments including: paediatric radiotherapy, image guided IMRT, SABR, SRS and total body electron and photon treatments for patients across Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands region. The department has a major commitment to evidence based practice and participates in multi-centre clinical research trials.
