Job summary

People (Workforce) Planning and Transformation is a function of Human Resources, its primary purpose is to develop a workforce plan for the organisation, enabling the organisation to have an inclusive workforce which is responsive to changes in care, both now and in the future.

Workforce Planning is essential at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) to ensure we have the right people with the right attitudes, behaviours, values, skills and experience providing care and support.

Understanding the experiences of staff is an important element within Workforce Planning. The People Planning and Transformation Team (PPTT) are responsible for coordinating and analysing the data from a number of staff surveys for the organisation to include:

  • National NHS Staff Survey
  • National Quarterly Pulse Survey (NQPS)
  • Starters Survey
  • Leavers Survey
  • Internal Movers Survey

The post-holder's main responsibility is to provide comprehensive project support to the Team working on a range of projects around Workforce Planning and Transformation with a specific focus on Surveys. This role will include working closely with senior colleagues and the wider teams across NUH.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support the People Planning and Transformation Team in such tasks as:

  • Setting up and maintaining project documentation
  • Producing regular and ad hoc reports
  • Key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and regulators around surveys
  • Delivering training and awareness raising sessions
  • Analysing qualitative and quantitative data from surveys
  • Preparing reports using ESR data and other sources (such as National Staff Survey Co-ordination Centre data)
  • Undertaking surveys
  • Engaging with diverse audiences both internal and external
  • Monitoring the achievement of milestones and supporting meetings and events.

The role will require strong planning, organisational, negotiating and analytical skills to ensure effective engagement of all parties/stakeholders and co-ordination of projects

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient and comprehensive project and administrative support service to the PPTT with a specific focus on surveys, to assist in the planning and delivery of agreed project deadlines and events
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, systems and processes for promotion and implementation of staff surveys across NUH
  • Run various reports from on-line platforms of staff feedback/survey results at Trust, Division, Speciality and Team level, providing evaluation and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data for the Staff Survey Group
  • Support PPTT to procure on behalf of the Trust any required data platforms (housing qualitative and quantitative data from aforementioned surveys) to include approving access, providing training and regular reports
  • Support PPTT in ensuring all national reporting milestones are achieved, assisting to investigate the causes of any variation from target/plan and proactively contribute to implement solutions
  • Deliver proactive support to the PPTT and complete individual work on projects (both solely and in a supported capacity) as required.

  • Organise meetings and events for projects (both virtually and physically), which may include co-ordination of venues and speakers, helping to prepare supporting information and documents, creating agendas and taking minutes.
