Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity is available for the right individual to join Digital and Information Department at NUH.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to develop the role of Digital Services Strategic Lead within our Strategy and Commercial Team. We are looking for a strong leader with both strategic and technical experience of a busy IT environment.

The role focuses on investigating, scoping and establishing the strategy for the management and development of Digital and Information investment cases of high strategic importance.

The individual will to be a self-starter and able to work at a senior level within the organisation. They will need to engage manage and deliver multiple strategically important investment cases to ensure that Digital and Information areas are fit for purpose.

The key features of this role are the ability to think conceptually, solve problems and describe solutions clearly and simply.

Main duties of the job

To lead the evaluation, scope the requirements and produce a strategic proposal identifying the options and costs producing a comprehensive Outline Business Case (OBC) leading to Full Business Case (FBC) over an agreed timeframe.

To lead on bids for external funding when available nationally.

To lead on producing, managing and implementing a programme of capital investment proposals and associated programme of work as required to develop and maintain the Digital and Information service delivery.

To act as a professional lead for all matters relating to digital technologies and aspirations.

To implement procedures to ensure that all developments are carried out in accordance with all legal, statutory and technical guidance and that all relevant legacy issues are identified and investment proposal are written and prioritised in line with the Trusts investment processes and strategies.

Job responsibilities

Ensure that Digital and Information, TNUH, NRC, E&F and Finance work collaboratively in developing and innovating the hospital of the future.

To work with the CTO and Capital Planning and Contracts Manager to ensure that the directorates five year strategic plans are supported in the development of any business case.

Develop Output Based Specifications which reflect the full requirements for the development and implementation of National and Local IT strategies, including the preparation of business cases to support the clinical model, estates work stream and people work stream.

Ensure all environmental transformation projects adhere to a strict change control process to minimise any adverse effects to our customers in the delivery of Digital Information business as usual activities.

To ensure adequate procedures are in place to identify and quantify all risks related to undertaking developments within an acute setting, and to ensure such risks are suitably mitigated, controlled and managed.

To provide professional advice and support to those engaged in the maintenance, development and replacement of Digital and Information infrastructure.

Build key relationships and maintain networks with internal and external stakeholders gaining an understanding of cross programme issues and using this information to support a uniformed and collaborative working approach to achieving programme objectives.
