This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
This role is based in the Nottingham Children's Hospital and will work collaboratively within the children's multi-professional Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology team which now encompasses Leicester.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse with proven track record in delivering specialist services. The role has four key performance areas:
Delivery of clinical care - running nurse led clinics, supporting patients within wards, day case areas and community settings.
Multi professional and Multi-disciplinary collaboration to ensure safe and consistent Paediatric Rheumatology care across the Children's Hospital
Staff Education - taking an active role in the education and training of staff within the Children's Hospital and the wider community.
Service Development - utilising Evidence Based Practice, Research, Networking and liaising with other specialist Paediatric Rheumatology Services locally, nationally and internationally. The current post holder has been instrumental in the development of Paediatric Rheumatology Care with executive positions held on the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology. The post holder will be expected to participate in such activities.

The post holder will:
Provide strong clinical leadership skills, energising, inspiring and empowering all clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective management of all services within the area of responsibility and in shared care/ network centres.
Promote a culture of collaboration and mutual respect amongst all members of staff, patients, their families and other professionals involved in their care.
Provide positive leadership, a caring supportive environment, always acting as an excellent role model for the nursing teams
Assess the child's needs, developing and enabling the implementation and evaluation of highly specialised programmes of care, tailored to the requirements of individual children with rheumatological conditions, whilst taking account of parents'/carers wishes.
Deputise for the Lead Nurse in their absence to provide continued senior leadership to the paediatric nursing team within the Paediatric Rheumatology Network.
Deputise for the Paediatric and Adolescent Uveitis nurse in their absence to maintain continuity of care for Children and young people with uveitis.
About us
Nottingham Children's Hospital hosts the Tertiary Service for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology in the East Midlands and will now be collaborating with Paediatric Rheumatology Services in Leicester. The Nottingham service provides clinics in Derby, Lincoln, Mansfield and Peterborough. The dedicated team comprises 4.4 Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologists, Registrar (often Grid trainee), Lead Nurse, Band 7 CNS's (2) Band 6 CNS (2), and PA to the nurses, Network Coordinator, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Secretary. The service has well established links with other specialities and there are joint clinics with Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Endocrine, Respiratory, Immunology, and Renal amongst others.
In addition Nottingham Children's Hospital is a centre for excellence in the nursing of Children and Adolescence and was the first Paediatric Hospital in Europe to achieve Pathway to Excellence. This will involve the development of care pathways, nurse led initiatives and improved links with primary care, secondary care, education, social services and the voluntary agencies.

Research and Audit: Advances in the care of rarer diseases, as with many paediatric rheumatology conditions, requires international collaboration. In order to improve disease outcomes, and quality of life of patients, the post holder will be required to collect and collate data for internal reports and research, and collaborate at an international and national level with paediatric rheumatology research and audit
