Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nutrition Nurse Specialist to join our existing multi-professional Home Enteral Feeding team . We are looking for a band 6 nurse working 0.5 WTE permanently .

Are you someone who has excellent communication skills who would enjoy a post where you would be based at Nottingham City Hospital and at home but working across Nottinghamshire caring for people at home , care homes and day centres on enteral feeds .

It would be essential that you have a UK driving licence and access to a car to enable you to do the home visits .

Main duties of the job

As a Nutrition Nurse Specialist you will be involved in the management of patients requiring enteral feeds at home . You will work with our existing Nurse Specialist, dietitians and dietetic assistants to facilitate a high quality nutrition service within the Home Enteral Feeding Team.

The post requires you to work independently across Nottinghamshire visiting patients with enteral feeding tube problems . You will however have support from the experienced extended team and work closely with the dietitians and the hospital nutrition nurse specialists .

You will be experienced in the management and insertion of a range of enteral feeding devices and you will lead and facilitate compliance with local and national policy and guidelines. You will support the clinical governance agenda and also support best practice across the service which is a vital element of this role.

  • Current 1st level NMC registration
  • Portfolio demonstrating continuous personal, professional and academic development

Desirable

  • 1st level Degree
  • Teaching qualification ENB 998 / 997, City and Guilds 730, FLIPS or equivalent

  • Experience / interest in audit and research

Experience

  • At least 2 years registration as a registered nurse / midwife
  • Post registration experience
  • Supervision of non-registered staff, pre-registration and post basic students
  • Evidence of ability to mentor
