Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our award-winning Youth Service at Nottingham Children's Hospital as a Youth Development Worker, with a focus on accreditation opportunities and Healthcare Transition.
We require a highly motivated and enthusiastic professional who is passionate about working with young people and be able to develop accredited programmes, in line with a Youth Work Curriculum, for young people living with long-term health conditions.
The Youth Development Worker will play a vital role within the Youth Team, as well as working closely with healthcare teams across NUH, to deliver accreditation opportunities that contribute to positive healthcare transition for the young people at Nottingham Children's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To plan and deliver an appropriate youth work programme for young people living with long-term health conditions, and attending Nottingham Children's Hospital, in accordance with the principles and values of youth work and the changing needs of the young people.
To lead on accreditation opportunities for young people engaging in the Youth Service and those attending Nottingham Children's Hospital.
To contribute to the development of healthcare transition services and to act as an advocate and source of support for young patients at Nottingham University Hospitals.
To effectively record the achievements and outcomes of the work undertaken throughout each year.
To participate as a professional member of the Youth Service and contribute to the care of the patients of the Trust, relating to their all round cultural and diversity, developmental and emotional needs.
To contribute to the development of the Youth Service through identified project aims communicating effectively with the Youth Service Manager and the Specialist Teams.
