Job summary
We are looking for a new Chief Nurse, a central role underpinning our capabilities to deliver on our visions and ambitions as we enter this next phase in the development of our Trust.
We are looking for an experienced individual to be the Chief Nurse of one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the country. The post-holder is responsible for providing visible and transformational clinical and professional leadership of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional staff.
The role has executive accountability for patient experience and will be expected to work closely with the Chief Medical Officer in relation to patient safety and clinical effectiveness, as well as being the executive professional lead for maternity and children's services.
Main duties of the job
The Chief Nurse will make an important contribution towards developing, promoting and delivering the Trust's strategic vision for nursing, midwifery and allied health professional services. This includes enabling diversity in all its forms, promoting staff well-being and creating a just culture of learning and improvement.

- Current NMC registration
- First degree in Nursing or equivalent experience, with evidence of practical application of expertise at this level and evidence of sustained and continuous professional development
- Extensive experience of senior professional leadership and operational management across a range of clinical specialities and care settings
- Evidence of successful leadership of diverse, clinical workforces, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration paying particular attention to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Demonstrable capability to operate at Board level, with experience of working with partner organisations across the health and social care community to deliver improved outcomes for patients
- Evidence of influencing, making or effectively participating in national nursing policy development, with experience of translating national policy and standards into practice
- Experience of leading and delivering change and improvement on a trust wide basis
- Extensive experience leading and managing staff and teams and budgets, as well as extensive experience of working with patient groups
