Job summary

We are looking for confident, well-motivated, reliable and pro-active individuals to support and manage the administrative team across the service.

This would be working across Cellular Pathology services based at both the QMC and City Campus.

The role includes the opportunity to work closely with the administrative processes within the service; the senior managerial leadership team and clinical leadership team.

Excellent communication skills with proven experience of managing a team. They will have the ability to deal with sensitive situations and conflict in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Having experience of recruitment and sickness management is essential alongside the ability to coordinate and motivate staff to ensure a consistent standard is delivered.

Main duties of the job

Leadership

Line management of the administrative and clerical staff including staff recruitment, training and development.

To contribute to the delivery of ambitious targets by supporting the senior management team to continually improve performance within the service

To provide operational expertise and management support to all members of the service including review of staffing and service development.

Manage appraisals and mandatory training compliance whilst maintaining an efficient , productive and supporting administration service to our clinical teams.

To provide cover and management support to all members of the admin team in the absence of lead medical secretaries.

To provide personal administrative support to the Clinical Head of Service

Cellular pathology is rapidly making use of innovative technology to support the delivery of diagnostic services which includes technology within the Admin and Clerical teams such as direct Careflow MDT referrals, tumour board case collation using Digital pathology and supporting pathologists with speech recognition reporting/referral pathways.
