The role is an exciting opportunity for a confident individual who is organised and enthusiastic and able to provide support within our Information Governance Service. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin or develop their career in Data Protection and Security / Information Governance.

Main duties of the job

Your tasks would be varied and you may be asked to work in any area, carrying out administrative or project tasks to support delivery of the wide information governance agenda in a service which is undergoing a period of change and transformation. Typically the role will involve:

  • Provision of first line contact to enquirers, signposting to relevant Information Governance advice and support in accordance with Information Governance policies, operating procedures and best practice across NUH.
  • Processing of IG incidents and communicating with investigating staff throughout the Trust to ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Providing administrative support for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit
  • Organising meetings, production of Agendas and accurate Minutes and distribution of papers
  • Receipt and processing of Freedom of Information Act and Subject Access Requests
  • Direct project support to improvement and transformation projects as required
  • Creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures
  • Facilitation of information sharing agreements or privacy impact assessments
  • Facilitation of information assets and data flow reviews
  • Updating of relevant external and internal web pages content

Ideally you will have experience or a keen interest in the area of Data Protection and Information Governance, along with excellent administrative and project skills and an ability to work independently and take responsibility for their own workload and prioritise whilst being positive and resilient.

Although this post will be a dedicated Information Governance role, all staff within the service have an understanding and working knowledge of other data protection and security areas to form an effective supportive environment and service to the Trust's staff and patients.

You will be expected to work both from home and on site at QMC and City Campuses as and when required.

Essential

  • Educated to Diploma or demonstrates an equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of ongoing professional training and development

Desirable

  • Information Governance qualification or equivalent experience

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Experience and/or understanding of Information Governance issues in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of working in a busy department within the NHS
  • Experience of handling patient/public queries
