Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse to join the radiology team at NUH

Radiology are a vital component of most patient journeys

The Lead Nurse for Radiology will lead and manage the service alongside the Clinical Director, General Manager and Operational Clinical Lead, ensuring the delivery of a high quality governance agenda which optimises service delivery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be accountable for the nursing care provided by Radiology, with a focus on driving forward clinical patient safety. They will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management across the service, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based nursing and operating department practice.

The Lead Nurse will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff. The post holder will have a particular responsibility to support the development of Clinical Standards, Governance and Service Improvement, to modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated.

They will be expected to represent the Directorate at senior meetings across the Trust

The post holder will be based across NUH and after a period of time in post/following training will be expected to participate in a trust wide on call rota that ensures there is senior professional leadership for the Trust 7 days per week.

Radiology is one of 5 directorates within the division of clinical support

It is led by a Clinical Director, Lead radiographer and General manager

It comprises of a number of modalities including plain film, interventional radiology, ultrasound, neuro diagnostics etc. It cares for both adults and paediatrics

Radiology is at the forefront of many research programmes and new surgical procedures. NUH support vital research into hearing, digestive diseases, respiratory, musculoskeletal disease, mental health and imaging.

You will be working alongside a supportive team of radiographers, nurses and Radiologists to achieve standards of excellence in Radiology

  • First degree or equivalent in health related subject
  • Management Qualification or equivalent level of experience
  • In-depth knowledge of governance and risk management

  • Working towards Masters qualification
