Medical Secretary to Specialist Nurses

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the Cardiology Department within the Medicine Division.

You will be working as part of the specialist nursing team on the City campus supporting the ACS and CATs team with administration and secretarial duties.

The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic individual with proven secretarial and administrative experience. You will have strong communication skills as this role entails liaising with patients, members of the public, clinical staff, other departments and managers.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the summary below, you will need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification.Duties will include audio typing of clinical letters, incoming mail and investigation results.

It will be essential that the post holder can demonstrate excellent communication skills and be an organised individual, as well as being able to work on their own initiative.

Essential

  • 4 GCSEs inc English
  • Typing qualification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and experience of using software programmes eg Microsoft Office

Experience

  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures
  • Minimum of 2 years secretarial experience
  • Medical terminology

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working for the NHS
  • Knowledge of hospital systems
  • Minute taking experience

  • Demonstrate the ability to provide and receive routine information which may sometimes be sensitive and complex
