Pharmacy Volunteer

Job summary

This is a voluntary role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fantastic team of volunteers in the Pharmacy team at Barnsley Hospital, located on the first floor of the main outpatient department.

The role allows potential volunteers to meet new people and enhance many skills including communication, team-working and overall customer care.

Requirements of the role:

Have excellent customer service skills

Have excellent communication skills

Be organised and reliable

Ability to work in a fast-paced-environment

Willingness to undertake training relating to the role

Ability to adhere to policies such as Infection Prevention and Control

The role sits under the remit of the Patient Experience and Voluntary Services team, with the Voluntary Services Co-ordinator providing support and acting as a point of contact for Pharmacy Volunteers.

Main duties of the job

The main duties involved in the role of a Pharmacy Volunteer include:

To transport prescriptions (TTO and inpatient medications) from inpatient Pharmacy to ward/clinical area/ED. (Excluding controlled drugs).

To treat all information received with the strictest confidentiality

Use PTS tracker safely to ensure timely delivery of medicines from inpatient pharmacy to clinical areas.
