Main duties of the job

This role supports the delivery of a high-quality Emergency Medicine service within a busy, consultant-led department. The post holder will provide senior clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions, ensuring safe, timely, and effective care.

You will take a leading role on the shop floor, offering guidance and clinical supervision to junior doctors and advanced practitioners, while working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support patient flow and decision-making.

The role includes active involvement in teaching and training, contributing to educational programmes, simulation, and the development of trainees and other healthcare professionals. You will also participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement projects, and departmental meetings aimed at enhancing patient safety and service delivery.

There are opportunities to develop specialist interests such as medical education, paediatric emergency medicine, leadership, and service development. The post holder will be encouraged to contribute to innovation, research, and continuous improvement within the department.
