4425 - Specialist Hand Therapist

Job summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Hand Therapist to join our Outpatients Therapy Services. This Band 6 role is suited to either an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with specialist knowledge and experience in managing a wide range of hand therapy conditions. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering highquality, personcentred care to patients with traumatic, orthopaedic, rheumatological, and postsurgical upperlimb conditions.

We are looking for someone who can bring enthusiasm, clinical expertise, and a patientcentred approach to our service.

The interview date for this role is 2nd April 2026.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of patients with hand and upperlimb pathologies

Deliver evidencebased interventions, including splinting, exercise prescription, scar management, and patient education

Work closely with consultants, surgical teams, and therapy colleagues to deliver coordinated care

Develop and review personalised rehabilitation goals and treatment plans

Fabricate static and dynamic splints (or willingness to develop this skill)

Supervise students and junior members of staff where necessary, and on occasions deputise for the Band 7 Physiotherapist.

Contribute to in-service training and undertake staff appraisals.

For this role you will be HCPC registered, hold a degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy and show evidence of relevant and recent post-graduate NHS experience including Hand Therapy.

You will demonstrate a high standard of clinical work and evidence of continued and relevant learning and development.

The role will require you to play an active part in service development and improvement, with a view to shaping effective patient care pathways and best practice.

The successful applicant will have excellent team working skills and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and patients, as well as being able to work alone.
