Are you a dynamic and experienced leader in maternity services? We are seeking a Joint Maternity Lead for Governance, Compliance and Quality to join our team at Barnsley and Rotherham Hospitals. This pivotal role is designed to ensure that our maternity services consistently meet and exceed local and national quality standards based on a clinical governance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and monitor standards of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, and patient safety activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals and functional heads within the Maternity and Quality and Safety Team.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clinical colleagues and ensure the triangulation of information and intelligence across the service.
- Provide leadership and direction in relation to Quality Governance, Effectiveness, and Quality Improvements.
- Work in partnership with the senior obstetric and midwifery team to drive forward the wider Maternity leadership, operational, governance compliance, and strategic agendas.
- Oversee the strategic and operational delivery of all aspects of quality assurance pertinent to clinical governance in maternity.

Main duties of the job
- Promote and work within the NMC Code of Conduct, Trust Policies, and Professional guidelines.
- Promote evidence-based practice and ensure continuous professional development.
- Provide expert leadership and management skills to promote a proactive approach to clinical governance principles.
- Initiate strategies to improve learning from incidents and ensure changes in practice are sustained through robust assurance processes.
- Handle sensitive conversations with empathy and compassion, and motivate and negotiate with all staff groups.
- Support the senior leadership teams to ensure regular specialty governance meetings that demonstrate quality, safety, patient experience, and clinical outcome measures.
- Lead the midwifery contribution towards achieving the NHS Resolutions 10 Safety Actions for the Maternity Incentive scheme and the CQC preparation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within maternity services.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, compliance, and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and compassion.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
