A leadership opportunity has arisen for an
enthusiastic, and motivated experienced Research Nurse with a passion for
operational delivery of clinical research to join our growing Research and
Development team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The research
delivery team deliver high quality research across a diverse portfolio of
clinical trials. The successful candidate will work closely with the research
Matron to lead the growth of the portfolio of studies and further development
of the team, working together with the clinical teams to embed research,
increasing opportunities for our patients.

Main duties of the job
As Lead Nurse for Research and Development, you
will lead and manage the research delivery team, ensuring the effective
operational delivery of a broad and varied portfolio of clinical trials in full
compliance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice, and all relevant
legislation. You will coordinate the allocation of studies and workforce
planning to maintain the right skill mix, while providing daytoday guidance,
mentorship, and supervision to the research delivery team to support their
performance, confidence, and professional development.
Acting as a specialist
resource and visible role model for high quality research practice, you will
offer expert advice to staff, patients, and external partners, and play a key
role in promoting research activity across the Trust, contributing to both
local and national strategies to achieve ambitious recruitment and delivery
targets. You will ensure robust governance systems are in place, champion
quality assurance and patient safety, and maintain accurate documentation and
reporting throughout all stages of research delivery.
As part of the leadership
team, you will deputise for the Matron when required, represent the Trust at
internal and external meetings, and actively support the development and
implementation of departmental strategies, policies, and service
improvements making this a highly impactful and rewarding role within our
expanding research service.
