Are you a new or experienced registered nurse looking for a new challenge? We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in medicine ambulatory care and acute assessment.
The Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit is for stable patients who require emergency care that day or can be treated on an ambulatory basis without the need for admission.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fantastic team. The successful registered nurse will be self-motivated, always strives to give the highest standard of patient centred care and will be an effective team worker.
Medical SDEC is located next to the Emergency Department/Surgical SDEC. The department is staffed by a dedicated nursing team, allied health professionals and a dedicated SpR. Consultant input is from the Acute Medical Consultant body consultant and from the SDEC clinical lead. The unit is open from 7:30am-8pm with referrals being accepted from 8am to 4pm seven days a week. Our Medical SDEC unit opened 2 years ago and the successful candidate will be joining at an exciting time in its development and will be part of a friendly and supportive team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without directsupervision.
The post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and thedevelopment, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
The post holder will promote clinical excellence through his/her own practice,participating in evidence based practice.
The post holder is expected to demonstrate to, and supervise, support and developboth qualified and unqualified staff including students.
In conjunction with colleagues, the post holder will be responsible for the physicalenvironment of the workplace. This will include health and safety issues, security andthe appropriate safe management of equipment and resources allocated to the area.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the efficient use of resources, e.g. medical and surgical supplies. To Also follow policies and procedures for the storing patients valuables and cash on the ward.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice in the ward/department meets the standards set by the NMC, the Department of Health and theTrust, and that non-compliance with these standards is reported to the Ward/Department Manager in accordance with the appropriate policies and procedures.
The post holder will be expected to identify actual or potential risks of a clinical ornon- clinical nature in the workplace and to take appropriate action to alertcolleagues to these.
