We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Operating Department Practitioner to join our team of Intensive Care and theatre ODPs. The successful post holder will initiate and contribute to the care provision of the critically ill patient, within the general adult Intensive Care unit, as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring a high standard of care and quality service is delivered within a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors alike.
Within this role you will also cover the satellite ODP theatre areas and provide support for the acute response team. This post would be ideal for someone with a keen interest in medical, non-medical and simulation training, as you will work closely with our education team and provide two days a month supporting training with the medical education team.
We currently provide 13 Intensive care beds in our new purpose built and state of the art ICU. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual, who is looking to further develop existing skills in this environment.
Main duties of the job
To work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team without direct supervision to provide technical and clinical support within Critical Care.
To provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist in the provision of anaesthetic and monitoring procedures.
To lead a team of staff in the delivery of the highest quality care to the critically ill patient and their families.
To disseminate his/her expert clinical and theoretical knowledge and skills to all team members.
To effectively appraise/develop his/her team of staff.
To assist with all assist with all bronchoscopies, tracheostomies and intubations on the Intensive care unit.
