Were looking for a full time, compassionate, committed, and enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join the team on Ward 36 our busy and friendly 16-bed general surgical ward at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

About Ward 36:

Ward 36 cares for a wide range of elective and emergency surgical patients, including those undergoing procedures in colorectal, upper GI, breast, and general surgery. We support patients through the pre- and post-operative journey, managing both short and longer stays. This provides excellent opportunities to develop a solid foundation in surgical care within a supportive, team-focused environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Support Worker on Ward 36, your role will be to deliver hands-on, personal care to our surgical patients, support their dignity and independence, and contribute to their recovery journey. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are met compassionately and effectively. From helping patients with hygiene and mobility to observing and reporting changes in their condition, your care and attention will make a real difference.

  • At least 6 months of care experience working in a health or social care setting.

Knowledge and Awareness
