Job summary

This is a 12 months fixed term/secondment opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a positive and flexible individual to join our busy Surgical Clinical Business Unit (CBU 2) as a Medical Workforce Scheduler. This position is 37.5 hours, 5 days per week. Flexible working patterns may also be considered.

For this post, you will be educated to O level/GCSE standard in Maths and English (grade C or above) and possess an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Business Administration.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, high quality and effective doctor rota coordination to the CBU, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure minimum staffing is maintained at all times. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and previous experience working within a health care administration setting.

You will be required to work independently using your own initiative whilst being able to respond quickly and efficiently to conflicting demands and queries.

Main duties of the job

Working on own initiative and without direct supervision, provide effective rota coordination to the Clinical Business Unit, taking a pro-active approach in ensuring all out of hours shifts are covered and minimum staffing is maintained at all times.

To receive and handle sickness/other sensitive information using tact and compassion, ensuring that individuals are sign posted appropriately to places. Ensure medical staff absence is documented OMA advised and support the OSM by providing cover for the relevant activity.

Record doctor sickness and resolve queries relating to all types of leave e.g. annual, study, special and maternity on behalf of the CBU including agreeing annual leave and study leave, escalating to the OSM when leave cannot be agreed.

To ensure that any phased return plans are successfully carried out, working with the CBU management and Consultants. This may include adjusting the rota.

To ensure all Study leave recorded is supported by an authorised form, Responsible for communicating and publishing future rotas and any changes to all relevant parties
