Job summary
We
are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Locally Employed Doctor (ST3-ST7
Equivalent) to work as part of our dynamic surgical team.
The
posts are 10 PAs, includes administration and SPA sessions with a 1:9 full
shift on-call commitment.
The
surgical team and Barnsley Hospital provide excellent training opportunities,
particularly within laparoscopic surgery with regular access to operating lists.
The surgical team will actively support with learning and development
opportunities for the post holder.

The

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be
expected to be actively involved in daily ward rounds, MDTs and the supervision
and training of students and junior doctors.
They will regularly rotate between
operating theatre lists and outpatient clinics supervised by a consultant in
both upper GI surgery and colorectal surgery, acute on calls including
emergency theatre operating, providing cover for the highly regarded surgical
same day emergency care department, supporting professional activities time and
admin time. There will be opportunities to shadow colleagues in endoscopy
sessions and other activities to support professional development.
The successful candidate must be a determined
professional who has a desire to work as part of a diverse and forward thinking
general surgery team. Working as part of a surgical team in a smaller general
hospital, the successful candidate will be exposed to a wider range of
scenarios and given opportunities to make a real contribution to the team and
service.
