Job summary
Candidate will work as a Clinical
Research Fellow. They will work cooperatively with colleagues in similar roles
to provide 1FTE at registrar/clinical fellow level as part of the General
Surgery at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. There will be no mandatory
requirement to work on call, however, there may be opportunities to support the
service by working on call at the discretion of the service manager and
clinical lead to support any potential staffing shortages. It is expected that the
candidate will work 2 days supporting the General surgery department and 3 days
will be allocated to research. The PhD is affiliated with the University of
choice.
The candidate will be expected
to undertake high-quality research and will be encouraged to dedicate their
time to a specific research project as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

- A minimum of two years General Professional Training involving direct patient care at time of appointment.
- High level of proficiency in English, sufficient to undertake research, teaching and administrative activities utilising English language materials. and to communicate effectively with staff and students.
- Willingness and aptitude to present work at international and national meetings
- Ability to constructively interact with other members of the research group
Desirable
- Experience in teaching undergraduate MBBS students and other research supervision with an understanding of current directions in undergraduate medical education.
- Has written scientific papers

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC full registration
- current licence to practice medicine.
- Post-graduate MRCS or equivalent
