As Barnsley Hospital embarks on full digital transformation, we are expanding our EPMA team to meet the growing demand for CMM EPMA rollout & to develop the formulary for our critical care e-prescribing solution within the Phillips ICCA solution, recently implemented at our Intensive Care Unit in September 2023.

Main duties of the job
To work in conjunction with, and under the supervision of, the Lead Pharmacist Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration (EPMA) to implement and optimise an Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration (EPMA) system, and ensure on-going management of that system.
To assist with the development, and audit, of a training programme for IT, pharmacy, and other healthcare professionals in the use of electronic prescribing and associated systems.
To work with appropriate colleagues to ensure an accurate, and up to date, database of drug files for use by the pharmacy system and EPMA, including; the drug catalogue, order sets, administration regimens, prescribing advice, and formulary restrictions.
Acting as a proactive member of the EPMA Team, and working closely with; EPMA Project Manager, IM&T, Lead Pharmacist EPMA, and the EPMA system supplier, to provide expert technical advice on further implementation of the CMM EPMA system.
To support the Lead Pharmacist EPMA in ensuring that the EPMA system provides an integrated, or interfaced, solution with other clinical and operational IT systems, including the Pharmacy IT system.
To complete the necessary pharmacy duties to maintain registration competencies.
To attend appropriate training courses for technicians, to encourage other staff to undertake further training and to participate in such training schemes as necessary to keep relevant pharmaceutical clinical and technical knowledge up to date.
