An exciting opportunity has arisen for two band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapists with a strong interest in supporting patients in their journey during their acute inpatient stay, through rehabilitation/reconditioning and onto discharge/assessment in their own home environment. There are two posts which will be based in the Discharge to Assess community team based at Kendray hospital.

The post holders will have a broad range of specialists skills that can transfer across the patient pathway, with the main focus of these posts being community based assessing patients in their own home.

The post holder will provide clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team to inform their decision making and to provide advice and guidance to carers, non-clinical staff or members of other professions, who may be influenced by this and to maintain professional relationships with relevant others working as part of the wider team.

As part of the leadership team, the post holder must be flexible and dynamic and have a positive approach to enhancing service delivery and implementing NHS Frameworks and Quality Guidelines.

Main duties of the job

To manage a comprehensive Occupational Therapy Service to patients with simple to complex needs across medical, orthopaedic and surgical services throughout the Trust and into community services (Discharge to Assess and Neighbourhood Rehabilitation Service.

To have responsibility for the supervision and appraisal of junior occupational therapists and delegation of work to assistants and technical instructors.

To develop strong working relationships within the multidisciplinary team in acute and community.

To be actively involved in team and service developments with the support of line manager.
