Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to
join the community paediatric team in delivering Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)
to children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication
needs (SLCN). This may include a range of additional needs such as Autistic
Spectrum Disorder (ASD), genetic conditions, neurological conditions and
learning disability.
The
post holder will be responsible for providing a highly specialist service to
Barnsley Hospital for children and young people (CYP) on the ASD pathway and to develop, provide and participate in
the training and support of other professionals working with this client group.
The postholder will work at New Street
and undertake school visits as required.
The interview date for this role is 23rd October 2024.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will
have sound knowledge and experience in assessing, evaluating and delivering
evidence based interventions for SLCN such as, language delay, DLD, social
communication needs and speech sound disorders. The post holder will have
experience of multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working and delivering support and
expert advice and guidance to a range of professionals.
The post holder will
work in conjunction with the Band 7 SLT Lead from South West Yorkshire
Partnership Foundation Trust to maximise service delivery and oversee
the clinical provision of input to CYP on the ASD pathway and communication
difficulties and to provide assessment and advice to the client group, their
carers and other professionals to aid diagnosis.
There is the potential
for flexible working arrangements and this can be discussed on an individual
basis either before or during the interview process.
