As the Deputy Medical Imaging Manager, you will work with the Medical Imaging Manger to provide operational support for the delivery of Imaging services on the Barnsley Hospital site and at the new flagship Community Diagnostic Centre which is situated within The Glass Works retail complex in the heart of Barnsley.
Services on site include Plain Film (including theatre, mobiles and dental), CT, MRI, Breast Imaging (both screening and symptomatic), Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and Fluoroscopy (including cardiac angiography). All services are supported by a Modality Lead with whom the post holder will liaise to ensure effective service delivery in line with local and national KPIs.
Services at the CDC include Plain Film, DEXA, Ultrasound, Breast Screening and Phlebotomy. Phase 2 will include CT and MRI alongside other non-imaging services. With further expansion over 3 years, there is an opportunity to link in with regional colleagues to deliver a system wide approach to the delivery of Imaging services and this is an exciting time to join our team.
Barnsley Medical Imaging is continually seeking innovative new ways to develop practice and deliver services and this post will be key to driving the success of the service. Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the Service Manager to be responsible for the operational delivery of the Imaging service including the deployment of staff, coordination and supervision of the clinical and technical aspects of the service, ensuring that the service delivers safe, effective and efficient care to patients within the allocated and agreed resources.
To provide senior leadership at all times alongside and in the absence of the Service Manager for Imaging, operating on the basis of delegated authority in any given scenario.
In conjunction with the Service Manager be responsible for the provision of high-quality patient care, key performance targets, budgetary management and the achievement of CIP targets.
To work across the clinical areas within Medical Imaging to support the Service Manager in planning, developing, co-ordinating, delivering, monitoring and evaluating the Medical Imaging service provided to patients.
Work across professional boundaries in order to have a continuous focus on a safety culture. Maintain a culture which fosters staff involvement and a progressive attitude to work that is driven by patient-centred care. Enable and energise colleagues to deliver a consistently high standard of service.
To undertake clinical practice within your own area of specialism (equivalent to 25% of contracted hours), including direct patient contact, training and supervision of staff.
