An exciting opportunity as arisen for the successful applicant to take up the role of a therapy assistant within the Acorn Intermediate Care Unit.
The Acorn Intermediate Care unit provides short term specialist input for people who need extra support, care and rehabilitation to support them returning home or appropriate place on discharge.
The role will provide a unique blend of physiotherapy and occupational therapy work with the patients that we support during their intermediate care stay. Placing the patient at the center of their recovery, in order to achieve their therapeutic goals. Working alongside a broad multidisciplinary team with opportunities for career development and progression.
Main duties of the job
The roles and responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
To assist the rehabilitation team: physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and nursing teams in planned seven day working week.
To implement individualised rehabilitation programmes as set by Physiotherapist and Occupational therapist.
To implement rehabilitation programmes instructing patients and carers and providing direction and guidance, on a range of physical activities.
To assist Acorn Unit registered staff in completing physical, social and psychological assessments and screening.
To provide psychological support for patients and their families through individualised set rehabilitation programmes.
To undertake administration duties as determined by the service.
Encouraging patients and their carers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence. This requires empathy, sensitivity and good interpersonal skills.
