Job summary

At Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the Workforce Development and Student Support Team supports pre and post registration students and learners across a range of non-medical professions, runs the trust wide Preceptorship programme for newly qualified practitioners and, delivers clinical skills training.

We are recruiting to the position of Lead Nurse/Practitioner for Student Support, who is either a nurse, midwife or allied health professional to lead a team of Practice Educators to deliver high quality evidence-based learning and development opportunities throughout the trust. We are looking for an individual who is motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about educating the future workforce.

The Lead Nurse/Practitioner will ensure clinical environments are suitably prepared and supported to provide educational placements and that these are quality assured to NHS England Workforce, Training and Education standards. You will work across professional boundaries ensuring students and learners receive high quality clinical placement experiences.

In this role you will contribute to the future development of the learning environments as well as being a conduit for information between Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Higher Education Institutes, and Further Education.

Our department primarily operates Monday Friday between 8.30am 4.30pm and there is occasional weekend work to support attendance at local university and college open days.

Main duties of the job

Lead on the development, maintenance and monitoring of quality assured educational placements for all non-medical students undertaking educational training within the trust ensuring both capacity and adherence to NHS England Workforce, Training and Education Quality Framework.

Contribute at a local, regional and national level to quality assurance initiatives ensuring close links with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and NHS England Workforce, Training and Education.

Lead on the development of and recruitment to unregistered clinical workforce career progression opportunities including roles such as, but not resigned to, Student Nursing Associate and, Registered Nurse/Midwife/AHP Degree Apprenticeships.

Undertake line management of the Student Support Team including administration team.
