We currently have 2 full time vacancy for a committed and enthusiastic individual to complement the established team in Barnsley Main Theatres, delivering high quality care that is rapidly adapting to meet the needs of the patient and the development of the unit.
Experience and qualifications are not essential as a training package is available and full support will be given to applicants without previous operating department skills. This is a permanent post in Main Theatres.
The department operates 24 hours ,365 days a year including bank holidays.
We are looking for dedicated, flexible and well-motivated individuals, with a keen interest in working in the theatre department. We invite you to join our team and to play an active role in the development of the unit. You will work in a clinical environment of 8 main theatres (soon to be 9) and 1 emergency obstetric theatre. Specialities are in the following fields:
Elective/trauma orthopaedics
Emergencies
ENT
Laparoscopic work
Urology
Breast
Colorectal
Upper GI
Gynaecology
Obstetrics
Candidates must have good organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the successful candidiate will be :
To assist in preparing theatres for surgery
Support the surgical team
Transporting patients to and from theatre
Helping maintain sterile environments by preparing instruments and maintaining infection control standards
Checking, restocking and maintaining surgical instruments and consumables
Ensuring equipment is clean, available and in working order
Assissting patients with mobility, personal care and emotional support
Helping with data entry using the trust systems , and theatre scheduling coordination
