Job summary

Barnsley's Emergency Department is an exciting and enjoyable place to work. We are excited to have some opportunities for Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) roles to expand a happy and long standing workforce. We are also accepting band 5 applicants as Trainee Emergency Nurse Practitioners paid at a band 6 for 12 months during a trianing period.

Barnsley ED provides care for a multitude of patients from the locality, ensuring a variable and interesting workload. Seeing over 100,000 patients per year the department works hard to maintain a consistent high level of performance. The ENP work autonomously within this to maintain the Trusts Minor Injuries Department.

The post is looking for ED or Minor Injuries experienced band 6 or band 5 Nurses, who are willing to undertake the required training to become an ENP and work within our excellent service. The ENP training will focus primeraily on clinical work in the minor injuries department but there is an academic expectation also which the successful candidates will need to ensure they are commited and capable of undertaking.

Main duties of the job

  • Performing comprehensive clinical assessments for patients with minor injuries.
  • Formulating and implementing evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Administering medications under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or as a non-medical prescriber.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays.
  • Providing clear and effective communication to patients and their families.
  • Collaborating effectively with the wider healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
