Research Nurse, Band 5
This is a part or full-time position worked over a Monday to Friday pattern. Occasional weekends and public holidays may be required with notice.

This is an exciting role that offers the right individual an opportunity to develop their clinical research skills within an acute District General Hospital setting. Barnsley Hospital is expanding the Research & Development team and are looking for a highly motivated and well organised Band 5 registered nurse with a passion for research to join the team.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in all different types of NIHR Portfolio studies across a range of clinical specialties, offering a comprehensive introduction to clinical research nursing. This may include commercial and non-commercial, interventional and observational research.
You will join an experienced, supportive team and support participants through the research pathway. You will be responsible for offering research opportunities to suitable patients, providing direct care throughout the participants' research journey.
In return, we will be able to facilitate and support you with additional training and education relevant to the role and study specific training,
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the recruitment of patients into non-commerical and commercial studies and will ensure that research participants are monitored, supported and receive the highest level of research nursing care.
You will be involved in the delivery of trial interventions this may include administering trial medicines, working with new medical devices & taking and managing samples within study protocols. You will also be responsible for follow up care either via face to face clinics, or virtually with telephone calls and supervising e-diary compliance/data collection.
You will be expected to work in a collaborative manner and be able to serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. You will have excellent interpersonal skills & be able to work autonomously managing a caseload of participants, while adhering to trial protocol requirements.
Good IT skills are essential as well as the ability to work to deadlines, a high standard of accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail in order to produce good quality data.
Be a registered nurse and have successfully completed a preceptorship programme.
Have good time management skills.
Be able to integrate with a number of teams in order to achieve set objectives.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access etc)
Be willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and duties to meet service needs It's possible that this will include some out of hours working.
