An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the CBU1 Matron Team at Barnsley Hospital.

As the Matron you will be focused on patient safety, patient experience and quality assurance frameworks. You must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients and the public, whilst also possessing the ability to ensure robust clinical operational demands are met.

The post holder will act as the professional Nurse Lead providing clinical advice, leadership development, monitoring and management of all nursing resources to facilitate excellent nursing practice ensuring the delivery of high quality, patient centred care.

We are looking for an individual with extensive Band 7 experience. You will be a professional role model with high standards, demonstrating flexibility, visibility, and excellent communication skills to patients, families, staff and play a key role in influencing and supporting wider strategic drivers.

Main duties of the job

The Matron will support the ADON in providing dynamic, professional and operational management and leadership for wards/departments and specialist nurses.

The post holder will facilitate, support and empower wards/departments to manage their areas effectively, supporting the development of their ward staff and their services to ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times.

The post holder will support the delivery of the Trust's overall objectives and service priorities, with a particular focus on nursing practice, patient experience and involvement in the development of services and standards of cleanliness and quality care.

The post holder will be accessible and a visible presence, advising and supporting ward/department, patients and their families to ensure effective patient care across the whole patient pathway.
