We currently have a vacancy for a committed and enthusiastic individual to complement the established Unit team in delivering high quality care that is rapidly adapting to meet the needs of the patient and the development of the unit.

This is a temporary Band 5 post on the Planned Investigation Unit, situated on Ward 38, the department operates Monday and Tuesday 08:00am to 20:00 hrs and Wednesday to Friday 08:00am to 18:00hrs.

The Planned Investigation Unit performs routine treatments including infusions, blood transfusions, injections and venesections. As well as supporting the Cardiology diagnostic service including Angiograms, Pacemaker insertion and TOEs. We also support Radiology assisting with different interventional procedures in the Imaging department.

We are looking for a dedicated, flexible and well motivated Registered Nurse with a keen interest in working in a Planned Investigation Unit, to join our team and play an active role in the development and mangement of the unit.

Candidates must have good organisational skills, decision making skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to develop their own professional knowledge.

Main duties of the job

The Planned Investigation Unit provides a 5 day service Monday to Friday, which incudes pre-assessing patients, and undertaking venepuncture for radiological and cardiology procedures.

The unit has an infusion suite where staff will administer iv medications including biologics and blood transfusions.

The Nursing staff on the unit assist with procedures within the radiology department as well as preparing the patient pre and post procedure. The department is a nurse led unit.

The postholder will be expected to work along side other staff to assist with the running of the department.
