This 1-year secondment is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Senior
BMS to gain leadership & managerial experience.
Haematology at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is part of the
Blood Sciences department of Barnsley & Rotherham Integrated Laboratory
Services. This modern department offers a wide range of diagnostic testing for
Rotherham & Barnsley Hospitals as well as local GP practices within the
ICB. The department is fully UKAS accredited & an IBMS accredited training
laboratory.
The Barnsley NHS Foundation Trust is currently one of five Trusts
involved in the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Transformation
Programme. The aim is to design a Pathology Service that provides all SYB
patients & clinicians with equitable access to high-quality, innovative
laboratory medicine solutions that will ensure the best clinical outcomes for
patients. The service will also be efficient and sustainable, encourage
research & development in collaboration with Academia & Industry to
improve health & wealth in the region & provide rewarding jobs and
career opportunities for all staff. Transformation Programme may include the
consolidation of some services. Staff will be consulted about proposals that
may involve them.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Integrated Blood Sciences
manager in the delivery of a continuous 24/7 diagnostic service. The post-holder will specifically be
responsible for the overall management for the Haematology department within Blood
Sciences.
This will include the Personnel Management of BMS and
support staff in their area of responsibility.
