Job summary

This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

The role of the Medical Staffing function is to support the Trust in achieving its strategic aims and service objectives by developing more flexible ways of employing, retaining and rewarding Medical and Dental Staff and by supporting line managers to manager their staff.

We require a highly motivated individual to work in our busy department. You will be required to work with the minimum of supervision and as part of a team to support the recruitment and selection process generally, ensuring that procedures and policies in relation to advertising, interviewing and appointments are adhered to.

To support Medical Staffing Officer / Senior Medical Staffing Officer in the planning and arranging of interviews and to ensure that all necessary checks are carried out before candidates are invited to interview

To undertake all necessary pre-employment checks and ensure they are recorded as required

Awareness of all recruitment procedures including Equal Opportunities information, declaration of convictions, Data Protection Act requirements and ensure this is adhered to at all times.

To liaise with Occupational Health in relation to all new appointments.

Main duties of the job

To produce written statements of terms and conditions of service and to ensure the documentation relating to new recruits are completed for signature of the Senior Medical Staffing Officer / Medical Staffing Officer

To maintain personal files and computerised records to provide accurate information for individual employees in accordance with Data Protection Act 1998 and Codes of Practice and budgetary purposes.

Frequently receive and respond appropriately to telephone and personal enquiries from existing and potential members of the medical workforce, Service Managers and Operational Support Managers and external bodies, referring enquiries to the appropriate team member, Medical Staffing Officer, Senior Medical Staffing Officer or Medical Staffing Manager as necessary. This will require analysis of queries/ issues, making judgements about how to deal with them and escalating as appropriate. This may require the use of tact/ empathic or reassurance skills.

To prepare contracts of employment for Bank Doctors and Honorary Contracts for approval and signature of the Senior Medical Staffing Officer / Medical Staffing Officer.

To assist with the processing and payment of travel expenses, relocation expenses and excess mileage claims for all junior doctors

Complete in a timely manner the necessary documentation in regards to any changes or termination of employment for Trust appointed doctors and trainees.
