An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal inpatient and outpatient Physiotherapy team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This opportunity will allow the postholder to join a rotation that covers Outpatient Musculoskeletal / Trauma and Elective Orthopaedics and Fracture clinic.
The Physiotherapy Team is proactive in providing a holistic service, working within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure our patients receive high quality intervention, achieve their rehabilitation goals and are safely discharged in a timely manner.
Carrying out specialist assessments, treatments, and providing expert advice for patients with complex conditions. As an acute trust, we manage referrals from A&E, the fracture clinic, and orthopaedic teams, treating a diverse range of acute and post-operative patients from both our trauma and elective units.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should be capable of undertaking a mixed caseload of musculo-skeletal conditions, including Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Paediatric conditions of varying complexity. The post will include a specific focus on assessment and intervention following upper limb trauma / surgery.
Able to work autonomously and effectively within the wider multidisciplinary team.
You will supervise students and junior members of staff where necessary, and on occasions deputise for the Band 7 Physiotherapist. You will also contribute to in-service training and undertake staff appraisals.
For this role you will be HCPC registered, hold a degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy and show evidence of relevant and recent post-graduate NHS experience; having completed a variety of rotations at Band 5 level including musculo-skeletal out-patients/orthopaedics, medical/surgical/ITU, neurology.
You will demonstrate a high standard of clinical work and evidence of continued and relevant learning and development.
The role will require you to play an active part in service development and improvement, with a view to shaping effective patient care pathways and best practice.
The successful applicant will have excellent team working skills and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and patients, as well as being able to work alone.
Flexibility of working times and practice is essential which will include 7 day working, evening and weekend working.
