Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced registered childrens nurse to join the childrens services team and work within the childrens emergency department and assessment unit. Our purpose-built area opened in March 2021 and this year we have won the prestigious HSJ aware for innovation.

We are looking to recruit someone who is motivated, hard working and excells in a fast paced environment. You will support the lead nurse in delivering patient-centred, high-quality care. You will be happy working within the multi-disciplinary team in the emergency department or acting as the nurse in charge of the childrens assessment unit as this post gives the successful candidate the opportunity to work across both areas.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the running of the department alongside the lead nurse in charge of the childrens emergency department and assessment unit.

The post holder will work as part of a team of staff and co-ordinate the clinical workload and ensure the effective and efficient use of resources during the shift period. The post holder will co-ordinate the clinical workload and ensure the effective use of resources through the deployment of staff, monitoring of skill mix and utilisation of clinical competence and experience.

The post holder will ensure the safe custody, administration and economical use of drugs and surgical supplies.

The post holder will undertake rotational duties and be expected to adopt a flexible approach to working practices to meet the needs of the service.
