1628 - Medical Imaging Care Assistant

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a reliable, hardworking and compassionate individual to join our dedicated team of Medical Imaging Care Assistants (MICAs) within the Medical Imaging Department.

In this role, you will support the delivery of safe, high-quality imaging services and provide excellent care to patients attending for a wide range of diagnostic procedures. You will bring effective communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to make sound decisions and prioritise tasks. A sympathetic, patient-centred approach is essential, and previous experience within a care or clinical environment would be beneficial, although not mandatory.

Our imaging services operate seven days a week, so flexibility is essential to support the department across both weekdays and weekends. Typical shifts, 8:00am6:00pm, fall within the departments core opening hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm, with occasional 10:00am8:00pm shifts also required. Weekend working forms part of the rota; however, this role does not include night duties.

Part time 28.5 Hours per week would also be considered.

We also have a Clinical Diagnostic Centre in the Glassworks Barnsley town centre, which will incorporate Outpatient Imaging Services such as CT, MRI, Plain Film X-ray and DEXA amongst other services. This is an exciting opportunity and staff will rotate between the main site and Clinical Diagnostic Centre.

Main duties of the job

As a MICA you will assist in all clinical areas within the imaging department to help provide a caring and compassionate experience for the patients.

You will possess a good sound knowledge of health and safety, confidentiality and risk awareness.

It is essential that you have a good general level of education to GCSE standard and be prepared to undertake further appropriate training.
