Barnsley Hospital is delighted to be inviting applications for a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team. Different specialty interests can be supported, depending on the individuals area of expertise. This post is to support expansion of the anaesthetic services with Barnsley and to meet activity and service specification demands and includes the flexibility to spend a significant amount of time within the job plan to allow for engagement within a specialist area of your choice with particular reference to Obstetric anaesthesia, Trauma and Orthopaedic anaesthesia and Perioperative medicine.

With the recent opening of our bespoke ICU, the pending opening of our 9th Theatre room plus the addition of being able to offer robotic procedure at Barnsley, this is a real exciting time to be part of a growing team.

The post will appeal to a clinician who is looking to join a forward-thinking, motivated and friendly department. Team working is an essential attribute.

This post will suit an appropriately trained clinician with CCT (or equivalent) in anaesthesia who values team work, quality of life and work life balance, forward thinking dynamic attitudes to patient care, and respect and compassion to all staff members, patients and their families.

In addition, we want our team to enjoy good health and well-being, family lives and to feel supported in their new role as consultants, or even if looking for a change from their current consultant role.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the statutory and regulatory environment within which the medical services operate within the NHS.
  • A relevant PGCert or higher, or in progress
  • Evidence of commitment to education and training
  • Evidence of commitment to the chosen subspecialty interest
  • Evidence of higher training and qualifications in the chosen subspecialty interest.

  • Satisfactory completion of training as required by the Royal College of Anaesthetists as assessed by the College assessor.
