Job summary
We are inviting applications from enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced cross-sectional radiographers eager to advance their careers within a busy District General Hospital setting.
The successful candidate will initially be based in the specialty where they have proven knowledge and experience, with the opportunity to receive training in the alternate modality. Clinical proficiency across a broad range of examinations and scanning techniques is essential, along with a thorough understanding of cross-sectional imaging principles and practices, which should be clearly demonstrated in your application. While MRI experience is preferred, candidates with solid proficiency in CT will also be considered.
Applicants must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to CPD, and practical knowledge of radiation protection, legislation, and health and safety. A flexible approach to working is required. Above all, patient-centred care should underpin your practice.
You will join a friendly, supportive team dedicated to delivering excellent patient care while maintaining a high-quality, responsive diagnostic service aligned with the Trusts core values.
Our Imaging Department operates six scanners across the main Trust site and the CDC, including three Canon Aquilion Prime SP CT scanners, two Siemens, and one Philips MRI scanner.
Applicants should hold a DCR or BSc in Radiography, have current HCPC registration, and possess previous NHS experience.
Main duties of the job
The interview date for this role is Monday 23rd February 2026.
Perform a wide range of MRI examinations safely and accurately, ensuring high-quality imaging to support diagnosis.
Prepare and position patients for MRI scans, prioritising their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
Operate MRI equipment efficiently, adhering to all safety and quality standards.
Conduct clinical CT scans as required, applying appropriate protocols to deliver clear and diagnostic-quality images.
Operate CT equipment efficiently, adhering to all radiation safety and quality standards.
Review clinical information to tailor scanning protocols to individual patient needs.
Collaborate with radiologists and clinical teams to deliver excellent patient care and diagnostic support.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with departmental and Trust requirements.
Support ongoing professional development and keep up to date with advances in MRI technology and techniques.
Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff and students as required.
