This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer to join our Cancer Services team. The post holder will work to provide clerical and data collection support to the MDT Co-ordinators and work with the Urgent Suspected Cancer Help Desk Officers to ensure that all referrals received into the Trust with a potential diagnosis of cancer are scheduled for an appointment within two weeks of referral. You will work with the cancer services team to ensure fast tracking of all patients with suspected cancer achieve all cancer related government targets to ensure we provide first-class care and treatment for cancer patients.
This role is key to supporting cancer patients journey, supporting the Trust compliance with the 28 day standards. You will need to be confident, have great communication skills and have the ability to proactively challenge and chase patient appointments.
The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to provide clerical and data collection support to the MDT Co-ordinators. You will:
Assist the MDT Co-ordinators to prepare and circulate lists of patients for discussion at MDT using information provided by the MDT Leads / Clinical Nurse Specialists and other team members.
Help to collate casenotes, pathology and radiology reports. Ensure all relevant data is available for the MDT meeting.
Track confirmed cases of cancer in relation to the National Cancer Targets following MDT meetings, alerting the MDT Co-ordinator to delays in patient pathways which could result in waiting time breaches.
Input relevant data from the MDT meetings onto the MDT database.
Calculate waiting time adjustments by stopping the clock and ensure these are included when the data is uploaded onto the national database.
Work with the USC officers to ensure efficient and effective running of the Desk.
Process internal and external referrals into Cancer Services.
Monitor referrals to ensure patient attendance and record outcomes.
There will be an element of performing various administrative duties to support the MDT and ensure the smooth operation of cancer services. The nature and extent of that support will be agreed by the MDT Lead, Lead Cancer Manager and the MDT Co-ordinator.
