0384 - Staff Nurse - Emergency Department

The closing date is 07 December 2025

Job summary

You might have seen Barnsley Hospital Emergency Department (ED) before on the hit TV documentary show Casualty 24/7. The Channel 5 series was filmed inside the department and followed patients, staff and volunteers. Its still on TV and wins legions of fans with its heart-warming stories.

Now an exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses to gain experience and contribute to the excellent standards of care we deliver in our Emergency Department. We see in excess of 101,000 people a year, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, working closely with other acute trusts in South Yorkshire.

The department has expanded and so we are looking to recruit a professional and enthusiastic band 5 staff nurse. This is a permanent post for adult registered nurses. A caring and patient-centred approach is also so important for us.

We are looking for nurses with a desire to provide effective and efficient Urgent and Emergency Care. You will have drive and motivation and be able to demonstrate a kind and compassionate attitude. In return, you will find at Barnsley a strong nursing leadership, dedicated ED Matron and professional development nurses to guide and support you along with an allocated mentor.

We take great pride in being part of a top-performing trust and top-performing Emergency Department. So please apply and find out more.

We work to RCN competencies - so the skills you learn with us will all be evidence-based and great for your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
