An opportunity for a permanent Sister/Charge Nurse post on the Haematology/General Medicine Oulier Ward 24.
Good communication and prioritising skills are essential, previous band 6 experience is desirable but not essential.
We are looking to appoint a forward thinking, motivated and dynamic senior nurse with passion for progression and demonstrable leadership of Sister/Charge Nurse.
We are dedicated to delivering a high standard of evidence-based care, ensuring a supportive, friendly and safe environment for patients and staff.
You will be required to take charge of the ward and lead a team of staff with their learning and developmental needs. We will expect you to accommodate a flexible shift pattern, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage time, prioritise workload along with the ability to work under pressure.
You are expected to provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to the ward and ensure the provision of the highest quality care to patients and their families.
You must be able to promote clinical excellence through your own practice and also be aware of the Trusts values and behaviours by showing respect, courtesy and professionalism at all times.
Informal visits are welcomed and encouraged to come and look at what we do and meet some of the team.
Main duties of the job
Ward Sisters and Charge Nurses should have a strong sense of ownership of their wards, demonstrating high standards and have the drive to keep going.
Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.
In the absence of the ward manager the post holder will be expected to fulfil their duties and also be responsible for patient flow with regards to the receiving of direct referrals for patients with on-going haemato-oncology problems. This will also include provision of advice and support to patients/relatives and carers via the information telephone line.
The post holder will also be responsible for the overall management of staff in accordance with the Trusts policies and procedures in place.
You will be involved with initiating, delivering and completing annual appraisals for fellow colleagues.
The post holder will Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures. They will be expected to educate, supervise, support and develop both qualified and unqualified members of staff.
