are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic, and patient centred Consultant Geriatrician to join our team in the Care for Older
People at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are a friendly, dynamic and diverse
team of experienced clinicians who will provide mentoring and support tailored
to your specialist interests, and who recognise the importance of a good
work-life balance.
We have a long tradition in multi-professional
training and education at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as guiding
candidates through a successful CESR application.
We are actively involved in care
transformation for older people of Barnsley at Integrated Care Board level through
the development of a Frailty Virtual Ward, Frailty SDEC, and Integrated Care
with community colleagues, as well as service development and delivery in
hospital inpatient and outpatient settings.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development
of Care of the Elderly services along with their colleagues and is expected to deliver a
daily inpatient ward round as well as outpatient clinics and timetabled
sessions on Frailty SDEC.
They also expected to have a strong commitment to participating in
teaching and clinical supervision of medical students and trainees, contributing
to the training of nurses and other staff and participating in the activities
of the Postgraduate Medical Centre including Medical and Clinical Audit.
The candidate will have allocated 1.5 PA for Core SPA time and 1 PA
to pursue specialist interest.
This
post will help to continue to facilitate the progression of Care of the Elderly
services. It is an exciting time to be joining our team we are ambitious to
further develop the model of care for frail elderly patients including our
services in areas such as Stroke, Frailty, Orthogeriatrics and Dementia and
we are keen to support the successful candidate in specialist interest areas.
