Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior nurse, with a Haematology background, to join the Cancer and Clinical support division at BHRUT. The Lead Haematology Nurse will directly line manage a team whilst role modelling high standards of clinical practice and be responsible for ensuring Patients receive high quality care across the Haematology Cancer pathway.

You will work closely with the Haematology consultant body and MDT to ensure patients are supported through their treatment pathway and work across both the inpatient and outpatient setting. You will have experience as a Haematology CNS/ANP as well as evidence of advanced clinical practice and ability to carry out bone marrow sampling or work towards as a desirable.

The Lead CNS will be a driver of change and look for new ways of working to align pathways and processes against the new NHS Cancer Plan and ensure patients are receiving holistic support across the pathway.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Senior member of the haematology team with specific responsibility to provide patient care for myeloproliferative diseases and other haematological conditions, including chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and acute myeloid leukaemia. They will work in an advanced and leadership capacity role, leading and developing nursing practice for patients and colleagues within the haematology department. The role has line management responsibilities for the haematology CNS team including support worker and the post holder will expected to manage performance, education and development alongside service improvements to meet the demands of the service.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in leading clinical practice and provide expert advice and support for all patients with haematological conditions. The post holder will improve standards of care and promote and seamless service within the multi-professional framework. This will be achieved through clinical practice, management, education, research, audit and professional activities taking into account NICE guidelines, directorate and corporate objectives, all within the clinical governance framework. Working as part of the haematology team, the post holder will be involved in the continued development of haematological services across the trust, developing nurse led services and contributing to the personalised care agenda.
