Job summary
The haeamatology and oncology outpatient department at Queen's hospital BHRUT requires an enthusiastic, highly motivated staff nurse to join the team. This is a Part Time (22.5 hours per week) Fixed Term contract to cover maternity leave. The department is situated within the Queen's site, it is open Monday-Friday 08.30-18.00, treating a variety of malignant and non-malignant haeamatology and oncology patients in the outpatient setting. Patients attend clinical reviews with their clinician or specialist nurse/AHP. Outpatient treatments are facilitated by the nursing team. You will be involved in administering treatments to support patient's cancer diagnosis, to include management of CVADs and help facilitate the running of the Outpatient department. You will be expected to work the hours of opening in line with service needs. You require an NMC registration and proven post registration encompassing ward/acute nursing experience. We expect you to demonstrate the Trust PRIDE values and assist in achieving the Trusts objectives.
Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.
Main duties of the job
o To deliver a high standard of care to Haematology and Oncology patients who attend the Outpatient clinic.o To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients undergoing Radiotherapy and Systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) who attend the outpatient department.o To administer supportive care and medication within scope of competence including sub-cut SACTo To provide central line care.o To act as a resource and liaison for patients who receive SACT pre-treatment counselling and administration in the outpatient setting.o To carry out other duties and training as deemed necessary by the wider multidisciplinary teams in discussion with the post holder to ensure adequate provision of service.o Demonstrate pride in their work and enthusiasm for quality of care.o To manage the day to day running of the shift by allocating staff and facilitating breaks in the absence of Junior Sister or Senior Sister.
